Autumn 2008
Seventh Annual Ashland Independent Film Festival

The seventh annual Ashland Independent Film Festival will be held April 3-7, 2008. The festival takes place on the five screens of the intimate art-deco Varsity Theatre with special events at the Historic Ashland Armory. 87 films and many filmmakers will be featured this year.

The full festival schedule, a film list and synopses are available now. Members of the AIFF have access to our ticket pre-sale, the members-only line for first entry into the theatres, ticket discounts and more.

The 2008 AIFF Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to "the dean of documentary filmmakers" Albert Maysles. He will bring his classic documentaries Gimme Shelter, Grey Gardens, and his new film The Gates to the festival.  Academy Award Winner Helen Hunt will show her directoral debut Then She Found Me and receive the 2008 AIFF Rogue Award.

Last fall the festival was honored with a prestigious grant from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences earmarked to enable more filmmakers, actors, and documentary subjects to travel to Ashland and showcase their work.  The AIFF was the only festival in the Northwest, and one of only 20 in the U.S., selected to receive an Academy Festival grant.
